Scholarship Terms & Conditions

Eligibility Criteria

 

Applicants must be:

  • Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia within the meaning of the Australian Citizen Act 2007 (proof of either must be provided with the application).

  • Currently residing in the State of Western Australia.

  • Completing Year 6 at a Primary School, for Year 7 scholarships.

  • Completing Year 10, in the year of application, for Year 11 scholarships.

  • Completing Year 11, in the year of application, for Year 12 scholarships.

  • Enrolled or prepared to enrol and complete Years 7, 11 and/or 12 at Gilmore College, following the awarding of the scholarship.

  • Completing Year 12 and plan to continue study in the post-secondary sector including apprenticeships, traineeships or other formal continuing education/training/professional development.

 

 

Scholarship Specific Criteria

 

Scholarships by Application

  • Year 11 KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Association Academic Scholarship

  • Year 11 Sustainability Scholarship  (Proudly sponsored by ALCOA of Australia)

    • Year 11 Creative Arts Scholarship  (Proudly sponsored by ALCOA of Australia)

  • Year 11 Hospitality Scholarship (VET)  (Proudly sponsored by ALCOA of Australia)

  • Year 11 Building & Construction Scholarship (VET)  (Proudly sponsored by ALCOA of Australia)

  • Year 12 KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Association Vocational and Educational Training (VET) Scholarship

  • Year 12 KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Association Post-Secondary Education Scholarship.

 

Applicants must complete the Application Form and a Letter of Application in which they

explain:

 

  • why they should be awarded the scholarship.

  • how being awarded the scholarship would assist them.

  • their intended Senior School studies.

  • how they can make a positive contribution during their senior years at Gilmore College.

  • their ambitions for the future.

 

KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Gilmore College Educational Scholarship Trust

and submit the application by 3.00pm on the last Friday of August, in the year of

application.

 

They must also:

  • be aware of their responsibilities as an applicant;

  • complete the application accurately and submit it on time;

  • take responsibility for their semester 1 report and other documentation required for the application;

  • check emails daily from the close of entry until notification of results;

  • reply to emails relating to the scholarship process within 24 hours of receipt;

  • be on time and prepared for the interview;

  • direct questions relating to the scholarships, firstly, to the Year Co-ordinator, then to the Panel Co-ordinator, if further assistance is needed; and

  • only contact the Front Office staff to hand in their application.

 

Note that failure to observe the above instructions could result in disqualification of their

application.

 

All applicants who make the final interview stage must provide:

  • proof of citizenship/permanent residency; and

  • a copy of their Year 10, Year 11 or Year 12 Semester 1 school report.

 

Applicants must provide these at the time of application.

 

Selection Criteria

When selecting the recipients, the panel will consider the following:

  • The applicant’s ability to express him/herself clearly and concisely.

  • The applicant’s ability to demonstrate that he/she will provide a positive contribution during their senior years at Gilmore College or during further studies.

  • Scholarship specific achievement and ambitions.

  • The Year 11 Sustainability Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant enrolled or prepared to enrol in Year 11 Sustainability subjects and who best meets the selection criteria and appears most likely to pursue a career in that field.

  • The Year 11 Hospitality Scholarship (VET) will be awarded to an applicant enrolled or prepared to enrol in Year 11 Hospitality subjects and who best meets the selection criteria and appears most likely to pursue a career in that field.

  • The Year 11 Building & Construction Scholarship (VET) will be awarded to an applicant enrolled or prepared to enrol in Year 11 Building & Construction subjects KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Gilmore College Educational Scholarship Trust and who best meets the selection criteria and appears most likely to pursue a career in that field.

  • The Year 11 Creative Arts Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who studied at least one year 10 subject in a pre-requisite Pathway, is enrolled or prepared to enrol in a designated Year 11 designated subject or Certificate course, best meets the selection criteria and appears most likely to pursue a career in that field.

  • The Year 12 KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Association Vocational and Educational Training (VET) Scholarships will be awarded to an applicant enrolled in a Year 11 Vocational and Educational Training (VET) course and best meets the selection criteria.

  • The Year 12 KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Association Post-Secondary Education/Training/Development Scholarships will be awarded to an applicant enrolled in Year 12 with a clear plan for post-secondary education, training or professional development.

 

Scholarships by Selection

  • Year 7 Scholarships.The Year 7 KSHS Gilmore College Alumni Association  Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant the panel judges to best meet both the academic and selection criteria. Recipients will be selected following consultation between the Executive of Gilmore College and the Primary School.

  • The Year 11 Financial Assistance Scholarship will be selected following advice from Student Services in consultation with the school executive and awarded to a student of sound character with a background of financial need.

  • The Year 11 Excellence in Science Scholarship will be selected following advice from the Science Department and awarded to the Year 11 student who best demonstrates Excellence in Science.

 

Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities

 

Scholarships by Application

  • Check your emails daily from the day of notification until presentation.

  • Reply to emails relating to the scholarship presentation within 24 hours of receipt.

  • Attend the presentation and post-presentation function (if held) and introduce yourself to any sponsor in attendance.

  • Be prepared to run or assist in the following year’s scholarship presentation

•Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to your studies and in doing so

your achievement should reflect positively on yourself, Gilmore College and the

Gilmore College Educational Scholarship Trust.
